European Youth and Political Participation in Times of Crisis

How can we make sense of the current wave of anti-austerity and pro-democracy mobilizations and in particular the role of youth? Cristina Flesher Fominaya, ECIA Fellow, participated on May 8th 2013 to the European Conference on youth work and youth policy “Building Tomorrow’s Europe” at the World Conference Centre in Bonn. In particular, she was involved in the workshop “A New Form of Democracy“. In the following paper and presentation Cristina provided a brief context and chronology of some of the main protest events in Europe, and highlighted some of the key roles and issues related to youth participation.
