Andrea Teti on Al-Jazeera: Berlusconi’s election defeat

| More

In this special edition of Al-Jazeera’s Inside Story entitled The End of Berlusconi? Andrea Teti is interviewed along with Nuccia Bianchini (AGI) and James Waslton (American University in Rome) on the significance of the latest round of local elections in Italy. After a personalised, dirty – and often xenophobic campaign – particularly in Milan, Berlusconi’s candidates lost badly to their centre-left counterparts. Notably, the incoming mayors of Milan and Naples, where Berlusconi’s defeat was both harshest and most unexpected, ran on a bill of social justice but also law and order, taking over the right’s traditional ideological heartland.
