The Making of a Police State

The arrests of three pro-democracy activists in the United Arab Emirates can be seen as a sign of the increasingly oppressive regime and, at the same time, the UAE desire for the current status quo, being afraid of a of greater Arab freedoms. Davidson in this article sheds a light on the fear Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan’s sons police state, characterized by zero accountability over an increasingly urbanized and Abu Dhabi-dependent population.
